Brightspace Training Camp Follow-up
This one-day workshop is designed for faculty who currently use or will be using Desire2Learn (D2L) for online, hybrid, or face-to-face courses. The day is split to offer beginning content in the morning and training on more advanced tools in the afternoon. Lunch is provided.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will describe the key elements of a well-designed online or hybrid course (consistency, logical organization, clarity of expectations, and accessibility).
- Participants will demonstrate the use of best practices in the design of their online or hybrid course.
- Participants will describe the relationship of student learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessments in a well-designed online or hybrid course.
- Participants will use a variety of active, higher-level learning activities suitable for online or hybrid learning.
- Participants will use the D2L tools and components effectively and appropriately to deliver their online or hybrid courses.
This half-day workshop is designed for all faculty. Whether you have been teaching online for several semesters or are new to it this year, this hands-on workshop will be of benefit to you. Facilitators will focus on beginning tools and recent updates made to D2L Brightspace.
Join us in room 2-141C at DCTC from 12:00-4:00 on Wednesday, January 8! Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be provided. Bring your own candy canes.

Are you new to teaching online? Or have you been teaching online and could use a refresher? Please join us for these short, focused training sessions on specific Brightspace tools:
- November 6 at 3 p.m.: Calendar Tool
- December 4 at 3 p.m.: Groups
And join us for this slightly longer workshop before break:
- December 11 at 2 p.m.: Course Design
All training sessions will take place in the 2-141 computer lab. We hope to see you there!
Join your colleagues for discussions on equity and inclusion, and learn how common issues are resolved in real teaching practice. Guest facilitators will open each session and provide a broad perspective on the topic. Your colleagues will moderate the discussion from a teaching and learning standpoint, and facilitate all faculty at the table to share their experience in the classroom.

What is TeachWeek?
DCTC faculty invite their colleagues to sit in on a variety of open classes spanning our college’s programs and courses, including General Education. Each class features a distinct philosophy of learning and approach to teaching.
- Learn about the varied approaches to teaching and learning, specific to program and courses at your college.
- Get to know your faculty colleagues a little better.
- “Steal” some new teaching techniques and apply them to your own classes.
