Description
This workshop is designed for all faculty and staff. Whether you have been using online tools for the past several years or are relatively new these tools, this hands-on workshop is for you. Facilitators will focus on D2L and academic technology that can enhance the student experience.
Sessions will be held on Zoom (invitation sent after registration).
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Utilize D2L tools and components effectively and appropriately to deliver online and hybrid information.
- Integrate Microsoft O365, and other academic technology into the design of online courses.
Prior to the Workshop:
- Choose a course that you would like to build or improve upon. This could be a new class, one that you want to redesign. We suggest using an old course, a development course, or one that you will be teaching. It is not advised to experiment in an active course wherein students are currently learning.
- If you do not have a course that you can use during the workshop, submit a JIRA ticket and request a D2L development course shell. Indicate in your ticket that you need the course by the morning of the workshop.
- For the H5P training: Please complete both of the forms below. Doing this ahead of time will allow you to participate and build H5P activities during our session.
Technology
This training will be conducted using Zoom, the D2L Brightspace learning management system and other academic technologies. Please attempt to login to Brightspace prior to the training to ensure that you have access. To login, visit

VoiceThreads can be set up as graded or ungraded, depending on your course preferences.

The full list of available content types and examples can be seen on the H5P website. We have also included H5P examples at the bottom of this page, so you can see how they would look embedded into your course.
