Brightspace Refresher

May 24-26

Online via Zoom and Teams

This three half-day workshop is designed for all faculty. Whether you have been teaching online for the past several years or are relatively new to teaching online, this hands-on workshop is for you. Facilitators will focus on D2L tools and recent updates, student support, and academic technology that can be used to liven up your online courses and make them a more engaging space for you and your students.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the key elements of a well-designed online or hybrid course (consistency, logical organization, clarity of expectations, and accessibility).
  1. Utilize D2L tools and components effectively and appropriately to deliver online and hybrid courses.
  2. Integrate Zoom, Microsoft O365, and other academic technology into the design of their online courses.

This training will be conducted using Zoom, Teams, and the D2L Brightspace learning management system. Full schedule available at

Course Design Institute

June 6-23

Plan ahead for the IHCC/DCTC Annual Course Design Institute. This is our third year of organizing this amazing learning opportunity for faculty at both colleges. Our first year focused on design principles for online courses, and was especially geared toward those faculty who were new to teaching online. Last year, we focused on Universal Design for Learning and designing courses that are accessible to all students. In our third year, we’ll shift gears yet again and open up the Institute to faculty sharing their own courses, talking about they have learned teaching online (synchronously, asynchronously, hybrid, and hyflex), and what online elements they will keep in place as they transition back to instruction on campus.

The Institute will be delivered in a flexible format again this year. Faculty can participate synchronously, asynchronously, or access a full archive of the Institute and materials after June 23. Full schedule and details coming soon at
